ESPN did not want games on New Years Eve, afraid they would get killed on ratings and owe advertisers money; they weren't wrong.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
Not good for TV against Iowa. That day there are huge BIG games (ours will be 5th at best)
LSU at WI
PSU at Pitt
OR at NE
Ohio St at OK
Mich State at Notre Dame
We may not even get TV or the BIG alternate channel. Wish this game was on a different day where even if it was just on BIG it would be talked about on ESPN or BIG network- now it will be an afterthought with the other games.
Looks the the FCS championship game outdrew all the College basketball on ESPN (including the one it went head to head with)

"North Dakota State is a big part of the fabric of college football right now."
"North Dakota State is alive on the college football map."

Highest-rated show on ESPN2 despite airing starting at 9am PST... not bad.
Semi-related but if you look at web searches for NDSU and "North Dakota State" over the last 90 days using trends.google.com, you see a huge jump in them on the football game weekend with regular season getting 1/3 the search volume as a playoff game and a playoff game being 1/2 the championship game.
Not sure if this link will work for anybody else, but here it is anyway:

I thought I would just put a little fuel on the fire.
Looks like I see a trend...

I am sorry but the google data from 2005 has got to be bunk. 11 years ago were we using yahoo or askjeeves.
you mess with the ^Bison^ you get the horns
2016 FCS Championship had 1.4 million viewers compared to 2015 FCS Championship with 1.6 million viewers. If the FCS powers to be would get rid of regionalization there would have been a much better game. The NCAA is worried about travel costs instead of a true playoff. Why not seed all teams or at least the top 16? If they want to promote the FCS on TV, they cannot continue their current path.
Also, did you notice they did not have the huge banners at the stadium this year? In years prior, they had a large banner with a player from each team hanging from the stadium. Second year was Brock Jenson and Terrance West. This year all of the signs had no dates and were very general, like "FCS Championship" with an "NCAA" logo so they can be reusable. My how they have gotten thrifty..... I think it is a disgrace to the FCS.
Interest in UND appears to be cycling in a downward trend.
