Well, ESPN must still like money, so this has to be good in the few situations where they don't have to pick between FBS and NDSU.

very disappointed in the semifinals #.

the NDSU/SDSU game was legit awesome.. most power 5 schools would BEG for 2 Million viewers.

lets all remember... even if they say 1-2 Million people are watching, you usually need to take that times 5 for actual viewers (including bars, parties, etc) as neilson doesnt have boxes in every market.
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?

ESPN pays huge bucks for the NBA and gets NDSU for free... Yet NDSU almost outdrew them on the lesser watched ESPN2

This is why location is important and for conferences looking to expand that have a TV contract. I am guessing the TV ratings got a boost playing a team from the heavy populated east coast.

Not necessarily true about the east coast. NDSU and South Dakota State, who are insanely lowly populated drew 2 million last week and was the 2nd highest sports show on a Saturday just like this week. I think population is important but I think it's overrated. Kind of like saying Omaha in the Summit is a bigger draw than NDSU, whose fan base is pretty much all of North Dakota and western Minnesota... kind of like Montana is. Just because it's a big TV market doesn't mean anyone cares. By that logic... Chicago State should be a top rated team. Reality is nobody cares about them.

Our games vs Richmond didn't draw that well. Neither did New Hampshire. Both east coast.

Yeah, the Big Sky used to include Cal State Northridge... don't remember that turning many eyeballs (if any) to the Big Sky.

I didn't know that anybody considered JMU east coast either. If that's a big deal, then I'm not sure why their game against a Texas school had half the ratings. Not to mention that a 9am PST start time cuts into the ratings quite a bit. However, maybe I'm mistaken and there are lots of cable shows with morning start times that get better ratings. If so, I wonder why the NFL bothers waiting until 1pm EST to start their games.

NDSU has shown that if you put the Bison on TV in a decent time slot / channel, that people will watch. Not sure why people need to argue against that. Guess it doesn't matter that much because while those ratings are nice (especially as a way to shut up UND hockey fans), they are not nearly as awe-inducing as NDSU's regional numbers.

Most watched ESPN2 (live) broadcast from the whole weekend.

EDIT: It easily beat the JMU/Weber game the night before which drew 603k (http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/article...12-8-2017.html) despite that being a much more competitive game.

Wow that is actually pretty impressive. Better numbers than some UFC on prime time on Fox Sports 1 and better than MLS Playoff Soccer on regular ESPN

    Only 604k for the SHSU/NDSU semi: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/article...2-15-2017.html

I'd like to think that was because it was a snoozer but snoozers in the Friday night semi have been pretty common over the last 5 years and this was lower than the destruction of UNH in 2013 (813k), SHSU in 2014 (790k), or Richmond in 2015 (751k). It was way down from the JMU game last year (1.065m) but I'm sure that's due to that game being closer and a much more historically significant game than any of the others since the Bison lost it.

It was still the highest rated show on ESPN2's slate all day last Friday.
