Texas thinks they are a destination job...this isn't the little leagues. How long was Barnes there? How long has Izzo been at State? Williams at UNC? Self at Kansas? Coach K at Duke?

Texas has deep enough pockets to keep a coach long term.

and texas has become a hell of a basketball state. they could field top 5 teams yearly if they kept the top prospects in state.

The right hire will make texas a powerhouse. Marshall/Archie Miller/Smart would be home runs. Preferably in that order for me but Id be good with any of them

Their athletic program has the deepest pockets of anyone and are working on building a brand new $500 million arena. They will soon have everything needed to be a destination job...except results.

Barnes was at Texas for 17 years and 1 final four and with as talented as this years team was given the right coach they were contenders.

LOL, Williams might be done, sure. If you don't produce then yeah why would a big program keep a bad coach? That's not what I'm saying. You were trying to say that coaches would take the Texas job and look to move up if successful. To where exactly? Unless it's like a Williams from Kansas to UNC because it was his alma mater. Texas is a top tier job that you don't leave if you are successful...like Sav said, Barnes lasted 17 years there with only one FF in 03.

If you are successful at Texas they will pay you to stay there. Just stop talking.
