Too bad it was cool and raining at Drake. Slows down the runners, and interferes with most field events. Pretty impressive in this context that Maddie Van Beek ran a personal best in the 3000 meter Steeplechase, and Teschuk was within a second of her personal best in the 1500m.

It looks like the Bison are going to have quite a few athletes on both the men's and women's side make the NCAA West Regional (Qualifying) Meet (for the NCAA Championships two weeks later).

The women are loaded this year, good chance of several All-Americans this year. Really nice to see.

The men have really stepped up over last year, overall. With the throwing events, the Bison men have really blossomed - quite a few men here - Javelin especially. Brett Kelly, I think, has a great opportunity to snatch the NDSU school record in the 3000 Steeplechase - that would be cool - and if he runs really well he might make All-American.

Holy carp. Yes, I would say that ain't too shabby for a mid-major.

Maddie qualified in the steeplechase with a 9:57.60. It was the third best time in her heat, but that's enough to go to Eugene. Will update when all heats are done.

Erin is in the second heat.

Erin placed second in heat. Watching live feed looked like one runner took a nasty spill at beginning of her heat and had to be carted off and restart the heat.
