KenPom has SDSU 88 and NDSU 142

These are the things that happen when you play a 9 game single elimination tournament at the end of a 31 game regular season.

Without knowing more about Sagarin's models, I would say that it does make sense. Sagarin ratings are mostly score-based. Our offense was mainly about minimizing possessions. That kept our scores and our victory margins fairly low. That makes us look bad to the computer. Also, the massive blowouts to Texas and Iowa to start the year would likely be disproportionately significant due to the score-based method.

If you look at the Elo Score column(which is less dependent on score margins), the xDSUs are much closer. SDSU @ 108 and NDSU @ 125.

I was going to say our early season results hurt us much more in Sagarin than in RPI which doesn't care about the score. Every metric has its flaws, NDSU was a very different team at the end of the season.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

SDSU beat a good Colorado State team...

Even based strictly on conference games and the conference tournament SDSU Sagarin's out as the superior team by 6.5 points.
