Thanks Road. I had a hunch you would know the answer since you always seem to. At least we can finally get rid of the eyesore

Yes, I am student and have parked in that lot for 3 years now. Usually have to walk a ways to get to class because so few spots. However, after fall semester with the freshman drop outs. It frees up more space. Right now I am getting great spots!

Oregon and Boise state along with other northern schools are using their Indoor Practice Fields for game day activities to further embrace fans and well heeled donors. Pretty cool if you ask me. I hope we eventually build an IPF that could be used for this at some point, until then, what about the new ITF? It would lack the feel of game day without turf etc but still would be pretty neat.

Isn't one of the Dome expansion proposals to build facilities for this over Albrecht Blvd.?

The Dacotah Field Bubble would be good for late season. Not sure on thr ITF, seems like an awkward setup.

Remember when they released some of the expansion options for the dome about 6 months ago? Didn't it have an area covering the street that could be closed off? That could be cool and any beer would likely have to be off campus to satisfy the good peasant skirt wearing puritans anyways. Of course it would need to be built first

An ipf could be a good venue.

I've always loved the idea of doing an ipf on university drive where the current fields sit. Nothing huge just the size of a 120 yard field with attached 2nd practice locker rooms. If we push it close to University we could keep the other 2 football fields too. Having a cool indoor IPF with a lit up Bison helmet is a much more impressive campus greeting for summer campers and recruits than some grass fields with a tin shed. Would tie the entire complex together beautifully and ensure were at the top of the facilities world for years.

One would hope that after softball gets new digs that this is would be priority #1. In fact, the best way to get the Softball stadium done is to to tie these two projects together as NDSU football is "the" sports team of ND. Oh, before anyone chimes in about the bubble, remember that Both SDSU and UND now have or soon will have first class IPF's with SDSU's being the gold standard for any northern school not named Oregon. So while the bubble was much needed, it does not replace the need for an IPF. Fun to dream and speculate!

I agree except I don't think we need to dream. We certainly have the fan base and support to get this done. And realistically we don't need all the things UND and SDSU have since we already have them in the shac or the dome. (Weight room, training facilities, indoor track , academic center, meeting rooms and coaching offices are already here) We just need an indoor facility with some practice locker rooms. Heck we probably don't even need the practice locker rooms right away but they could be added. I would imagine this could be done for less than 10 million. Didn't the entire indoor track field cost in the 5 million range? Similar sized building?

I think an ipf would not only save rental costs from the dome (not a ton of money but it helps) and allow the bubble to be rented more (another small cash upside) but it would make a great impression on campers. Hey we have the dome to practice in, an ipf, outdoor turf fields, and a bubble for the other sports to use more frequently with football freeing up some time
