The reason hockey is expensive is because ice rink rental. Fargo badly need more indoor ice. The need and demand for ice time is growing, especially club teams and students and intramurals/broomball. For NDSU not to have any ice surface is practically a disgrace.
What in the world are you talking about? It's not NDSU's mission to provide amenities for Fargo.

What happened to the two other sheets they were supposed to put down at the Prairie Center. Wasnt that part of the sell job for the project?

And it's not Fargo's either. A cold place like NDSU needs a usable rink. Fargo hockey organizations would gladly chip in or rent ice time if land was provided. It could be next to the new 40000 seat stadium and provide warming party space.

Its not Fargo's place to provide rink time either, and NDSU student are a big part of the demand. Should be part of any wellness package, just like a swimming pool.

They are building one rink soon.

If the students want a hockey rink, they can vote for it and build one if approved. Not NDSU's job to be just building facilities for sports the university does not sponsor.

Also NDSU should have nothing to do with the women's hockey money pit.

It was supposed to be four sheets. Down to maybe one, if that ever gets built.

Or add women's ice hockey. Working with youth ice hockey foundations, build a 2000 seat rink on campus. That way no obscene money is spent. Youth hockey needs more rinks, and NDSU has land. The campus is badly in need of a rink. Having a team in Scheels would be expensive as there is rent.

A lot 50m pool doesn't make sense, even if we added men's swimming, which won't happen.
And you think that it is less expensive to build and maintain a hookies rink than a it is a pool?

Our current lack of an indoor skydiving complex is apauling in my opinion. How can an institution in such a flat location not provide this service to teh millions of fans...I mean students who are in such dire need of a high cliff from which to jump.

I've posted this before: NDSU should replace all the streets on campus with canals. Then students can skate to class Hans Brinker style.
