Isn't everyone in every conference looking for that next great opportunity? The recent "move up" invites were from distressed conferences.
And if they aren't in jeopardy, as you posit, they're at (probably) ten or more already. Are they looking to add FB schedule challenges to that existing problem? As some here say, nine is the best for FB scheduling.
What's the conundrum? If they need us in all sports, offer us in all sports. If they just want the football brand and nothing else, offer us in football only. The only conundrum is that our location sucks.
MAC and MW both have separate divisions so the 9 member round robin play everyone doesn't apply to either conference. The MVFC (hopefully) will never go east/west. Would be more lopsided than the SEC.
Not to mention the fact that the D1 rule book is in the process of being rewritten right now, no?
But we get it. You'll miss us. Some of us will miss you too, apparently, but not me.
Not directly related, but per Dabo's comments, if you look at what he's really saying (internal P5 split), it will be many years, probably over a decade or more, before there is any movement toward a break within FBS. I figured the wait-for-the-split crowd were all over his comments last week, but the devils in the details, and what he's really asking for would take a long time to sort out. This beast has both gobs of money and tons if inertia, and change like that in p5 college FB will likely occur at a glacial pace.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Yes, UMass was booted out of the MAC because they refused to be a full all sports member.
Even more true now that FBS conferences are raiding each other for members. They want/need a safety net to keep their FBS status.
The idea that NDSU is going to get a FB only invite is wishful thinking imo.
Because Notre Dame. < and the choir praised >
That is basically every G5 conference. CUSA lost 9 schools this last round, and could lose one or two more.
We really need to be focused on MAC and MWC, because you are talking about travel for all sports. Even if its not a problem for NDSU, other schools will not want long travel for all their sports. This is less of a concern in the MWC where the media deal can offset costs.
