NDSU is so Dominate at the FCS level that it's actually hurting us now... the fatigue, the plateau, the outside looking down at us for trophy chasing now.

YES we need an invitation, YES we need more revenue/fundraising, YES we need more assistance from our own state.

Dean Bresciani only has 3-4 years left here before he retires off into the sunset, what a PERFECT time to go after more funding at the state level to help bolster and make NDSU more appealing for an invite into a FBS conference?
I can't imagine NDSU is going to be getting a significant amount of new funding from the state considering there is another "large" school in the state who is going to feel entitled to a significant increase in funding as well.

If a frugal state of 750k is going to have 2 "flagship" D1 universities (which at this point appears to be an unavoidable fact), then the two institutions will have to differentiate themselves as unique and complementary bodies. Truth be told, it appears they were set up this way to begin with. My impression is that one of the two schools is fine with this distinction …

But to Chapo’s point, this is above DB and ML and would need to be addressed in Bismarck. So please stop railing on ML and DB about it.

Can't help but wonder what things would be like with a single, major university like Nebraska or Missouri.

The ability to find games that are meaningful and pay the bills while staying in the FCS may become more and more problematic.

The biggest step in potentially making a move is to admit that you are considering it. Many other FCS schools have done that. Some have jumped and some have not. At a minimum though it should be studied so that it is known that we are looking into it.

Without an official study no one really knows what it would take - everyone is an armchair AD and likes to spout off reasons and numbers that are based on nothing more than their own assumptions.

An official study would help us better understand what it would take and would answer many of the questions like:

How much more money would it take if moving all sports or just football?
Do we really need a conference? If not, what does that mean to our budget?
What about the stadium? Does it matter and if a replacement is needed is that a short term or a long term need?
What conferences might be interested if any?
Is there any TV money available?
    etc, etc, etc.

All the pro FBS crowd is asking is to do the feasibility study. Could we make it work and would the change be worth it?
What you are stating is YOU want confirmation that NDSU is considering it and YOU want a feasibility study to see if its possible. Have you forgotten that Gene Taylor
contacted the MWC and told them that NDSU wanted to be in the conversation when they considered expansion? Or that Matt Larson hasnt ruled it out BUT until the current landscape of college football changes we are happy to be where we are at? How many times must they repeat themselves?????

I will also say that a feasibility study would be a waste of money and resources at this juncture because NDSU pretty much Knows what it will take to make the move up. That came from GT himself in a conversation.

I remember when I reconnected with NDSU some 14 years ago. I was given a tour of the FD. While going through the football offices we came to a big empty office.
I was told that will be the head coaches office when we move up.

Since that time I have seen this program grow. They keep putting building blocks in place. IMO NDSU has great vision. Its certain fans who are short sighted and want instant gratification and want everything now regardless if its the right move at the right time and if its whats best for NDSU or not.

People have been talking about this P5 breakaway for what 8 years? Since covid happened, it appears to me that the P5 is no where near a breakaway with no central leadership. All teams for themselves with a collective “we’ll do what they are doing” mentality. Other than expanding the playoff field, I don’t see the landscape of college football at the FBS level changing anytime soon.

The P5 already broke away when the NCAA gave them autonomy. The breakup didnt happen as most people thought it would.

    what a Perfect time......

    - COVID economy
Tourism, bars & restaurants etc + their employees struggling.
Does FBS football jump ahead of them in priority???

    - Oil in a price range of 35-45
(remember Saudi Arabia/Russia production level price war???)

State Tax Revenue + spending concerns
Doug Burgum has directed state agencies to identify substantial spending cuts to help deal with a battered state economy that's been battered as officials try to slow the spread of the coronavirus. ... Burgum said agencies must pare spending 5% percent to 15% when they prepare their plans for the next two-year budget.

    what a Perfect time......

I’m frustrated as well that NDSU was/and is struggling to schedule games. However, we are in a different New Normal than we were a year ago.
