It would be optimal if some G5 wanted to create a "Northern Division". But I'm not sure what's the benefit to them.
I think SBC is getting a bit closer to AAC in terms of Sagarin after the last round of teams shuffling.
AAC losing UCF, UH, Cincinnati takes them down some. They still have Tulane and other good teams.
Its hard to claim SBC is better though until they place a team in the NY6 or soon to be CFP slot. AAC has consistently done that for a decade, and also has a slightly better media deal. MWC and SBC are pretty close, and you could probably argue that one either way now.
once again. is it 2024 when the CFP 12 team playoff start w the 1 G5 team automatically included??
that's the death of NDSU if they aren't in the FBS by then
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
SBC had a good year, and the gap is closing there. MWC had a down year, but may bounce back.
Tulane (AAC) was #16 and Troy (SBC) was #24 in CFP rankings when the selections were made.
Tulane went to the Cotton Bowl and beat USC.
AAC/Tulane would have landed the G5 CFP bid last year (also for the past 6 years, and 7 of last 8)
