People also need to admit that while we're on conferences' lists, we're not at the top. For the AAC to get to us so many others left that they'd be worse than CUSA. MWC is only adding if they lose some, which would be their best. They'd be fools not to offer the Montana pair or TX before the Dakotas, though whether MT would be interested is an open question. MAC isn't a bad spot for us. Not seeing any MAC teams leaving soon though so it would have to be expansion. Don't believe for a second that we'd just waltz into the CFP with an FBS offer, and don't use that as the main reason to join.
Sorry if you don't like this, and honestly I don't either, but it's still reality.
I'd expect the MWC to look long and hard at Texas options: demographics*, media, climate, travel.

NDSU needs to be FBS IN THIS PLAYOFF SYSTEM!!
for all your CFP doubters:
2021 would’ve had Cincinnati as a 3 seed. 2020 would’ve had 2 G5s in Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina. 2018 UCF would’ve been the 8 seed. So in 3 of the last 5 years, a G5 would’ve had a non-12 seed, including one receiving a bye. The format is about as G5 friendly as you can hope
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Ya and Coastal Followed that up with trips to the Birmangham Bowl and the Cure Bowl in front of 15K and 9K. What a boon to the program.
This is the 3rd time in the last 8 drafts that North Dakota State has a player selected before the entire G5.
WE ARE IN THE WRONG LEAGUE
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Finally had some time to look this up (from https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/a...-2024-season):
“…the expanded 12-team playoff will be made up of the six conference champions ranked highest by the committee (no minimum ranking requirement), and the six highest-ranked teams not among the conference champions. The four highest-ranked conference champions would be seeded Nos. 1 through 4 and receive first-round byes. The other eight seeds — Nos. 5 through 12 — would play in the first round.”
