They weren't original members. The Pacific Coast conference was started in 1915. Idaho 1922-1959 and Montana 1924-1950 were added later..
if the POWER 5 split off and the G5 still got 1 spot in the CFP.
wouldn't it be cool if the G5 had a 4 team Playoff to secure that 1 CFP spot? (just cut the last 2 games out of season)
just curious if that could be feasible, because that would be fun
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
If P5 split, they are taking the CFP and associated revenue with them.
The movement is towards the P5 increasing the number of conference games, and playing G5 schools less.
G5 may just become FCS on steroids. At that point, MVFC, Big Sky, and CAA might join them.
A D1 split is how we got FCS to start with. History repeating itself.
If the hypothetical P5/G5 split ever fully develops, I'd sure as hell rather be in AAC/MWC.
And maybe even MVFC over MAC if it elevates as a conference.
Imagine "moving up" only to find ourselves with SHSU/JSU or even EMU as part of the new "super FCS" reorg.
Moving conferences is ALL about who you are aligning yourself with and will play each year.
Regardless of level, I want to be aligned with schools where we can really enjoy the regular season conference games.
To be fair the trickle down won't really begin until the big boy conferences complete their dick measuring contest.
