Thought I'd bump this. When this thread started, NDSU was #43 on the list of "winningest" college football teams of all time.

Up to 36, #6 in the FCS (the top 5 are all Ivy League schools who have played a lot more games than NDSU.) NDSU is only 1 game behind Dartmouth.

HAVE to pass Pitt State. No good reason for that.

#4 in FCS by winning percentage

    1. Yale .700
    2. Harvard .683
    3. Princeton .660
    4. NDSU .645

We would have to win the next 198 straight games to match Yale. Passing Princeton should be easy with "only" 47 straight wins needed.

Yeah, those Ivy League W-L records are pretty amazing, but I'm counting on their winning percentages to drop and NDSU's to stay steady so we meet in the middle.

Example: Princeton has been playing exactly .460 ball since 2005. NDSU has been winning at a .813 rate in the same time frame. If both NDSU and Princeton duplicated their W-L record for the last ten years for the next decade, then in 2025, NDSU's winning percentage would have jumped to .664 and Princeton's fallen to .645. Supposing that my math is right, then there is hope.

Time will tell. The signs are looking good.

Those guys didn't even play by the same rules and there were like 4 teams. Totally inflated winning percentage. In the early days they played with 25 players on each side of the field and a round ball with no refs. And later in the late 1800's, you had to go 5 yards on 3 plays and couldn't make a forward pass.

On NDSU's wiki page it says we have 690 wins, but on this website we are at 684. Any idea which one is right?

NDSU has never lost a game. We have only run out of time. Oops that is what other teams say when they lose to NDSU. I will take 690 for $1,000 Alex.

    684 is right.

Source: NDSU 2013 media guide has NDSU's all-time WLT as 641-365-34, add in 2013-2015 (43-3) and you get 684-368-34. http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.co...160.pdf?id=180

NDSU's wiki page has been wrong for years... I tried fixing it once or twice. No idea where they are getting the 690 number.

Edit: Well, I can see some of the problems. If you add up all the W-L-T records for all the coaches on the wiki page, it comes up to 694-372-35... it should be 684-368-34. The page shows 1 too many wins for Gil Dobie, 3 too many wins and 3 too many losses and 1 too many ties for Casey Finnegan, 1 too many losses for Del Anderson, and 6 too many wins for Ron Erhardt. Maybe I'll give it one more try to fix it.
