Tennessee is one of the teams NDSU could catch if NDSU has another decade like the last one (that said, it seems improbable that any team could have back-to-back decades like that.)

Wiki being wiki - somebody messed up an edit. Otoh, wiki being wiki, I can go fix it right now... and it's fixed: List of NCAA football teams by wins - Wikipedia

I'm sure I'm missing somethings easy....but I can't replicate the winning percentage they show. My calculation is slightly off. I assume it was wins as a percentage of total games, but that isn't it. I then tried ignoring ties, but that didn't do it either.

    What am I missing?

NDSU looks like #19 if you sort by winning percentage.

Winning percentage formula is (Wins + .5 * Ties)/Total Games Played.

    (762 + 17) / 1171

It's probably going to take at least 2 full seasons to even get to 20 right? That's crazy to think how much has to go right to get all the way to Tennessee.

Luckily none has to worry about Tennessee winning more than about 7 games a year

It'll probably take three full seasons to get into the top 20 unless Clemson falls apart. OTOH, if Clemson does go below .500 next year, NDSU could pass them, but it doesn't seem likely.

Looked at the NDSU football Wiki.

In the last ~60 years, NDSU has had 11 football coaches. 8 of those coaches has won a National Title (6 of whom have won multiple National Titles).

The list hasn't been updated for yesterday's results, but currently NDSU is tied with Army at 658 wins at #43. Wisconsin has five less wins than NDSU. Michigan State is one W ahead. Minnesota is +4, North Carolina +5.

A lot of the teams above NDSU have played 100 to 200+ more games and NDSU is #22 if you sort the list 600+ win teams by winning percentage.

No idea if this is interesting to anybody, but being in the top 50 among all the 1000 or so NCAA football programs is pretty impressive. Not to mention that in 2010, NDSU was ranked something like 53rd so NDSU has made a considerable jump.
