Gophers get a transfer from Illinois State, 6' 10" Reggie Lynch

The 6-10 Edina native averaged 9.5 points on 50.0 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game for the Redbirds as a sophomore.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Lynch – the nephew of University of Minnesota and NBA alum Kevin Lynch -- will have to sit out one season before resuming his eligibility in 2016-17.
Hope Reggie has some of the hops his Uncle Kevin had, that guy could get up there.

Shake-up aside, basketball recruiting class has Husker coach Tim Miles optimistic.....
The source of Miles’ optimism is a five-man recruiting class ranked in the top 25 to 30 nationally,
and that’s without factoring in Kansas transfer Andrew White III and recent signee Bakari Evelyn from Detroit.

    Good luck Richard!

Apple Valley 2018 point guard Tre Jones is on a similar path as his older brother and Timberwolves rookie Tyus Jones when it comes to getting offered a scholarship by the University of Minnesota to begin his high school career. trejonesusa

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound Jones, who just completed his freshman year at Apple Valley, received his second major conference scholarship offer Friday with Minnesota joining Texas Tech. Marquette is also showing interest.

You could color me skeptical when Minnesota extended Richard Pitino's contract and gave him a raise
to keep him from jumping ship to Alabama (which apparently was a remote possibility at best).

But I'm sure liking this so much better after this week.....
2 Four star commits, along with a three star commit they previously had:

Eric Curry - 6' 7" stretch PF - Little Rock Arkansas

Curry, a 6-7 stretch-power forward, chose Minnesota over Iowa State and Arkansas. He also had offers from Alabama, Oklahoma State, SMU and VCU — among others.

Richard Pitino landed the biggest recruit of his tenure as Gophers men’s basketball coach when nationally lauded Hopkins guard Amir Coffey announced Monday he would be attending his home-state school.

Coffey, a 6-7 guard with a unique mix of size and skill, chose the Gophers over offers from Arizona, Baylor, Texas and four Big Ten schools: Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State and Indiana.

Coffey's father, Richard, was a Clem Haskins recruit and played for the Gophers from 1986-1990.

The previous verbal was from three star Michael Hurt of Rochester John Marshall - 6' 7" SF
(showed up in NDSU recruiting as well)

    247 is rating Minnesota's 2016 class a top-10 class, so far.

Ryan James reporting MSU Moorhead has offered 2016 basketball recruit Carter Brooks.
Brooks is a 6' 6" SF from Lakeville North.
Shown with offers from Minot State, UMary and Concordia St Paul.
