Some will laugh at that idea but you never know.

The owners/founders of Murex Petroleum were NDSU graduates and natives of North Dakota. Not sure how big they are or how much money those guys have, but no, it isn't crazy.

The state does not allow our universities to issue bonds, correct?

As long as it has a roof. Absolute need. I love the oil guys and big donors but I wouldn't want us to whore ourselves out and dramatically impact the program in a negative way for a donation. Now if they want to spend about 400 million and put a roof on it, hell yeah

Still don't understand why a roof is an absolute must.

We are probably the coldest D1 school in the nation
A new stadium would likely seat 35k
To nearly double attendance we would lose the bandwagon fans we have now when it's below zero
Now we need to gain enough back to double attendance
Half the regular season games are during cold season
Would kill tailgating late in the year. Couldn't imagine spending 8 hours outdoors in -20
The dome is one of the greatest atmospheres in all of college football. Why ruin it to be like other programs

Saw too many half-full stands at Dakota Field after Nov 1 plus -----
Playoff games after Thanksgiving. When that new level of NCAA football emerges after the Big 5 conferences do their thing.
there will be a playoff, right???? Even the Big 5 should be at least an 8 team playoff within 10 years.

    T. Boone Pickens is Oklahoma State, Harold Hamm (Continental Resources) is going through a divorce 1B + (interesting to see how much Mrs Hamm gets after all these years). Try Whiting Petroleum and Kodiak Oil - they have a nice merger thing going on - helped boost their values...........

What happens in 20 years after a new 35k stadium is built, when it isn't going to be adequate anymore, similar to the Fargodome now?

Without a major Ralph type donation, a 35k indoor stadium is not a reality anywhere in the future. Fargo has no need for it and will not vote for it. The state of ND does not allow our colleges to bond for stadiums being built, unless I am unaware of something.

A 35k outdoor stadium is not too terribly expensive. It is realistically possible if fundraising were to start today and continue for a decade. Outdoor stadiums allow for future expansion. Indoor does not.

A 35k stadium would be built for anticipation of an FBS move, correct? Games are done in November at the FBS level. November average temp in Fargo is 37 degrees. If you can not handle 37 degrees you are not a true football fan.
