It was not a D2 trophy is came in to being much longer before the D2 days. It was a part of the Small College Division and Division 2. No reason it cant be a part of D1.

Good point. It's a good opportunity to explain to the world how the 1960's Championship teams were not D2. The were college divison national championships. Thanks for pointing that out. I agree with you
