I would guess the really good teams lock their scouts in a room between now and draft day with all the film in the world and get told to come out with their draft board. That seems to be the way the Patriots do it. The reason I say this is because I wonder how much gamesmanship goes on between some teams and the media. I'm not saying it matters much, but if team A is set on player A but keeps hearing about player B, are they somewhat obligated to spend some resources on player B? Certainly it is team B's agenda to move team A on to player B if they are also interested in player A. Eventually, player B's hype becomes so big someone has to take him or be crucified. I am not saying this is the case with CW, just generally.

With players like Walter Payton and Jerry Rice coming from the 1-AA/FCS level, you would expect "experts " to know this by now.

Too bad they aren't as good as Bill Parcels, who somehow saw potential in Phil Sims. Dude was drafted #7 overall from Morehead State despite completing less than 50% of his passes and having more INT's than TD's. Even SF's Bill Walsh wanted to draft Simms, but Phil didn't make it to the third round where they planned to draft him. Instead, they got stuck with their back-up plan - some Montana guy from Notre Dame.

So good they draft qbs like Manziel and Tebow. They get it wrong plenty often. Jamarcus Russel, Tony Mandrich etc. Etc etc

Mandrich actually came back and had an ok career after getting himself straightened out. Now Ryan Leaf was a different matter.

What an idiot! He says that CARSON is just the best QB in a bad group of QBs this year, so he doesn't think they should trade up to get him, but yet if he's still available at 13 overall, we could take a chance. If he's good enough to be 13th overall and you need him....????? Wow. Another expert ...
