Isn't consistency what you want from officials? My guess is this was missed because the covering official (only 1 or 2 possibly looking at this contact) didn't have a good angle on the contact. The worst thing an official can do is guess what happened. That doesn't excuse them from a downgrade though.

Carson has to learn to get down. Could have been a penalty but there have been similar plays not called this year. I don’t think it was cheap, just a penalty that didn’t get called. Playoff football.

Yes, he intentionally turned his head down so his helmet would smash into the back of Wentz's head.

And when he wasn't flagged and/or kicked out of the game, the refs became a part of it.
