Very similar situations when the bottom line is playoff ramifications were being decided by less than full-strength lineups.
Feel free to win more than 6 games if you want to make the playoffs.

If people are really worried about tanking it seems like the solution would be to stop rewarding teams for losing games. Perhaps set draft order for non-playoff teams based on wins after they’ve been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs?

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Exactly. Giants and other teams need to point fingers at themselves. Tanking happens in every major professional sport every year. When Von Miller went down before the season even started, I was hoping the Broncos would go into tank mode.

No one complained when the Dolphins did an all out blitz on 3rd and 17 or something last year to lose or the Jets doing it this year. Not to mention the Giants are 6-10. haha

Well the Jets Head Coach and/or GM and/or Owner kind of did when they sent an all out blitz, as they fired the Defensive Coordinator the next day

Where was it said the Eagles would have won playing hurts? He wasn't exactly lighting it up. 4 game as a starter. Defenses starting to figure him out.

As far as I know the Chiefs/Chargers game had absolutely zero playoff impact as the Chiefs had the #1 spot on lock and the Chargers were eliminated. The Chiefs sat every one of their difference makers, offense and defense. But... not the same deal at all.

Regarding the Steelers, they're getting ready for a playoff run and they have earned the right to tank... er, rest in week 17 by having their spot secured already. For playoff teams with positions locked the best product is hopefully yet to come with a healthy team. To intentionally loose in order to meagerly improve your draft position is completely different.

You're final point is spot on though. Giants should have won more games.

You could also argue that the Eagles also didn't want to get players injured in a meaningless game. Say Miles Sanders blows out his knee. He's going to be hard-pressed to be available next season. If you looked at the "injury" report before the game they were clearly trying to protect several players who they view as key for turning things around next season. Analytics, risk/reward, call it whatever you want.

How many people here would be thrilled if Easton got into the last quarter of the Chargers game this week. There are backup players who have been working hard all season who should get an opportunity to play in situations like this. Sudfield had showed some positive traits in his limited playing time. Hell, he was going to be the backup before Hurts was drafted. Yeah, he played like crap, but I don't know that you can say he was told to.

Nothing more than players wanting to win the game. Every snap gets put on tape and a lot of those players are playing for their career. They want to win the game.

This place is going to be interesting this fall when Carson is back with the Eagles and stuck in the middle of a QB competition for QB1 against Hurts.
