Well, let's see. Fargodome belongs to Fargo.

So NDSU facilites are what, exactly? The BSA,an okay-ish 200M indoor facility, and the bubble?

In 2016, SDSU will have a larger football stadium than the Fargodome, a stadium that it will own and operate. A stadium that, thanks to accidents of geography, can be readily expanded if the need arises. This October they'll have a 300M indoor track and field facility that has been designed from the get-go to accommodate soccer, softball, baseball and golf. Not to mention a hydrotherapy suite that the entire athletic department can use.

If you're equating the 200M facility NDSU just built with the S-JAC, you haven't been paying attention. The S-JAC is a better facility than any number of facilities in the "Power 5". And that's not a fanboy assessment. Take a look at the facilities at Nebraska, Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, Washington State, Iowa State, Iowa, Penn State---then compare them with what's included in the S-JAC. Compare track length, number of lanes, field event accommodations, and support for other sports.

(Edited to add: The total footprint of the S-JAC complex, including the Dykhouse Center is about 190,000 sf. For comparison, the footprint of the Fargodome is 214,000 sf. Total square footage of the S-JAC complex is about 218,000 sf.)

So, yeah, BSA will be a bit better than the best-attended basketball facility in the Summit, other than that?

Technically, you are correct. Which is the best kind of correct.

There is also nothing wrong North Dakota, Fargo, and NDSU facilities except the BSA which is getting renovated. The "bubble" is a little ridicules imo though. Just build a regular practice facility.

I just find it weird that you bash Sioux Falls, yet live there. Have a little pride of where you live or move if you don't like it. If a job is making you stay there it's somewhat understandable but still. All in all, who really cares. Everyone is going to have their opinions.
Why is a "bubble" ridiculous? They are a good enough for a number of NFL teams. A rigid IPF in my opinion is a waste of money for us. We already have an indoor track facility, we don't need to flush $15 million into a facility that the football program will only use sporadically.

For baseball and softball, a bubble might actually be better than a rigid facility.

Tell you what. You call NDSU's outdoor sports staff and ask them which they would prefer.

Awwww, they're so cute when they try to get uppity. Run along, little bunnies. It's past your bedtime, and the grown-ups are going to have a conversation about winning. You wouldn't understand.

I doubt they care as long as they get the indoor space they need and at NDSU they won't have to worry about sharing it with the track team.

But for softball, baseball and golf a bubble works really well. Hitting a ball against a bubble is a bit different then a rigid roof or solid wall. It provides some more flexibility.
