    Default Patty Viverito FBS Comments

Sorry to bring yet another thread, but at least it's not in the football section, right?

Kolpack posted an article early this morning showing Patty's views about FCS to FBS jumps. I thought for sure she was terrified this time last year (which Kolpack stated later on in the article) about more FCS teams jumping.

    Thoughts?

Holly Anderson who covers college football for Grantland had this insightful nugget in a recent column:

"Almost by necessity, conference commissioners are enthusiastically, incessantly full of shit."

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Maybe she can direct one of her pointed remarks at the MVFC TV package? I'm not holding my breath.

NDSU has every game on Television, so I fail to understand how a MVFC TV package benefits NDSU. It just provides more TV for the rest of the conference teams, and lifts them up, correct? UND's conference has a TV package, yet they are barely included . . . so please explain how a TV package for a conference is such a wonderful thing? For the B1G a TV package is huge. For the MVFC or Big Sky, it is pretty meaningless as NDSU is already television all games, and the package does not delivery significant dollars to NDSU.

It certainly doesn't warrant non-stop whining and knashing of teeth, does it?

I agree, but I think it is more so for people that live in Fargo, Georgia (just throwing a town out there that exists) that dont get the local NBC programming like us here in Fargo.

I'm in the Twin Cities. What the He?? does a MVFC TV Package do that's not already being done? Absolutely Nothing!!!

Every game's Primary is NDNBC/Midco/Fox Major with backup on FSN North/FSN Midwest/Fox College Sports/ESPN3/ESPN Gameplan. Please tell me what more a MVFC TV package is going to deliver? It won't deliver anything that is not already in place.

Unless a TV package will provide 200,000+ to each school, it is worthless. A TV package probably costs the schools, not benefit them. NDSU is doing their own thing, and frankly it is a distinguishing factor for NDSU. A TV package would be zero sum . . . big wooooop!

You are way off base on this. A TV package like the CAA or Big Sky have would be huge. Top notch TV production and accessible for fans nationwide.

Exposure for the conference is a good thing, not a bad thing. A rising tide lifts all boats.

    Exposure! Exposure! Exposure!

The MVFC's media package is an absolute joke.

The MVFC has had a game of the week (their TV Package with Danan Hughes doing color) in past years. It's been on FSN Midwest (usually carried on FSN North) and ESPN 3. How is that an improvement? You really don't know what you are talking about. At best, nationwide TV would be ESPN3, and we are already there and we have a good production with our local NBC Team. I don't see the benefit, we are already on a nationwide media, the same as we would be with a TV package.

A TV package may help the Indiana States and Southern ILs, but I don't see it having any real benefit NDSU. We don't make money off of it, we spend to have it as a conf.
