He qualified to get into MN. He had taken some summer classes to boost his GPA, Just has to go through the NCAA clearinghouse. At the worst, he will pay his way and still be able to get academic help and access to the weight room.

Just so no one is confused, here it is again, this time from twincities.com.....
http://blogs.twincities.com/gophers/...facebook-post/The Gophers were already confident that top running back recruit Jeff Jones would get into school, but it became official Friday, according to his Facebook post.
“Big Day for Jeff!” Jones’ Minneapolis Washburn High School coach Giovan Jenkins said in a text. “Big Day for Minnesota!”
The Minnesota Mr. Football winner and four-star prospect placed a picture of his University of Minnesota acceptance letter on his Facebook page Friday afternoon. The copy of the letter was also posted on Gophers247.com’s site.
When this story came up of Jones having issues qualifying, I had small hopes that maybe, just maybe,
the next John Crockett situation would happen, where NDSU might get a chance to help a young man
through a tough time and go on to bigger, better things after high school. So good luck to Jeff Jones
at Minnesota, hope it turns out great for him and my 2nd or 3rd fave college team. Love he stayed local.
And speaking of staying local, bisonationinfo (John) reporting an unofficial visit to the Gophers by a certain local,
makes me wonder how that will turn out. Jones, after all, is a highly rated RB who will most likely redshirt now.
And the Gophers do have a commitment from the "Canadian Adrian Peterson".
- does Minnesota try to get the early (this weekend) verbal from JJ?
- does Minnesota still offer JJ as a RB?
- or do they offer as an Ath (RB-LB)?
- would JJ like to play LB?
New offer out in Florida. He got the official offer letter but last he spoke with Coach Austin NDSU had no DB/Safety verbals so no clue if they still want another

JJ is and was offered as a RB, that has not changed. Could he move later, sure. JJ is a different type of back than what the Gophers have. And they graduate a couple after this year.
What do you guys think about this possible QB/Ath? His stats on his video state that he set a record for all-purpose yards with close to 4,300 yards! Along with 58 total tds. Attended both team camp and the 3 day indy camp. Got a good review from Coach Hedberg winning one of two mvp awards at camp.

Great athlete. I think his height might keep DI teams away. I certainly dont see him as a full scholarship type at NDSU, but maybe they switch gears one year and bring in a partial and PWO QB. If ever there was a year to try something like that it would be the QB who follows Davis and Stick
" Our strategy for winning against BISON was simple, we put our WRs and RBs in a 1 on 1 situation with their defense in the backfield.....everybody knows they have some freshman who cannot tackle in a 1 on 1 situation.....Joe Glen"
