FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University senior guard Taylor Braun has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2014 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament scheduled for April 16-19 in Portsmouth, Va.
Each year for 61 years, the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has invited 64 of the best college basketball seniors from across the nation to participate in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team. Scouts from numerous international leagues are also expected to be in attendance at Portsmouth.
Ben Woodside, NDSU's all-time leading scorer, participated in the P.I.T. following his senior season in 2009.
Braun, The Summit League's Player of the Year, averaged 17.6 points per game this season to lead the league in scoring, as well as averaging 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals. He scored in double figures 28 times, including four games of 30 or more points. Braun also posted single-game highs of 15 rebounds and 11 assists, and his 564 points scored this season were the eighth-most ever by an NDSU player.
A Newberg, Ore., native, Braun was an All-Summit League first team selection, NABC All-District honoree, and Associated Press honorable mention All-American this season.
