    Morons. All of them.

I'm going to start NDB2's School of Hard Knocks.

$1,000 tuition. Day one: students get shoved into a brickwall in Downtown Fargo. Night one: kick ass party (arranged by students that afternoon; taxi rides home/condoms provided by NDB2's SOHK). Morning two: exam on basic information (who's the President, what does the fox say?); Afternoon: graduation - a cap, gown, diploma, and commemorative photo; Late afternoon day two: a bus ticket, and a scheduled interview with a trucking company in western North Dakota.

Alumni events held in Fargo and Williston.

    ROI - about 500.

Suck it higher education - there's a gold rush on!!!

(The School also offers a Master's Program which consists of a Williston Public Library Card and a 1.75 of Windsor)

Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Offer a Doctoral program which lets the candidate go downtown, meet up with a 6'6" goon, cuncussed, and thrown into the back of a cop car after they see how far they can walk. Bonus ROI for sales of the videotape.

If you normalized ROI to state dollars/student, NDSU would probably be much further ahead.

Yeah, anybody see the poll on the article? Respondents are saying that a college degree isn't worth it by a margin of 3 to 1. Of course, it's a Forum poll and I can pretty much tell what the results are by asking myself, "How would a person disappointed in how their life turned out vote when they can't admit that fact?"

So, yeah, college students could quit their job and go drive truck in western North Dakota. Let's say that's $60,000 a year after taxes. $30000 of that goes to rent and in three or four years, your "career" is over so the 20-year ROI probably isn't going to be very good considering that $80,000/year jobs for HS grads aren't that common.

Of course, this is coming from somebody who took a summer job removing asbestos because it paid twice as much as delivering pizzas so it's not like I was looking too far into the future either.

This explains a lot Tony. I'll type a little slower for you in the future.

I have to say I'm fairly impressed with the print version of the story. Most of the front page with giant graphics comparing 6 schools and clearly showing NDSU giving the best ROI. (NDSU/UND/MSUM above fold; UM/CC/Jamestown below)

The GFH spin doesn't surprise me in the least. Bury the NDSU info in the middle and minimize it as much as possible. Wonder what the print version of that looks like? No graphics and buried on page 4?

And I could use some brightly-colored pictures to illustrate posts.

I agree on the Heraldo spin. When I saw the headline, I really thought I needed to give away all my possessions and climb the highest hill around and wait, for surely the world was ending. Then, I read the story and saw it all about how great UN_ was, even though their ROI is something like 25% below ours.

It must totally suck to be a un_ grad.

Their ROI is worse because the UND police crack down so hard on grade inflation or something. I mean, they're, like, super-serious about it.
