There was a time when the NIT was very prestigious. With the expanded field in the NCAA not so much anymore. Then throw in the CIT and the CBI? Thats worse than the shitty bowl games.

The NIT was actually THE tournament back when. It was only when the NCAA started it's own tournament that the NIT became second fiddle. These new ones just came about in the last decade or so IIRC and are a joke. Hell, UN_ is even playing in one.

Rumor has it there is a lot of internal in fighting with this team. Very little communication and camaraderie. My guess is playing any further would only perpetuate that. It wouldn't surprise me to see some transfers out this year. There is too much talent for them to struggle this much. They have a strong class coming in next year as well.

I like this, this gives more opportunities for schools from smaller conferences to play. If your conference gets 3-5 spots in the dance, and 1-2 in the NIT, do we really want to see 6-9th placed teams in a post season. I think these other games are great and all, but I think it should be an opportunity for 2-3rd place teams.

Shouldn't the coach be lobbying to be in this though. Think about how much extra practice time our football team has gotten the last four years, which is huge for those kids that haven't played a whole lot yet. So a team goes to play in a tourney like this, for a good amount of teams they are going to get an extra week of practice. As poorly as some of these kids shoot, dribble, etc they can use any extra time they can get.
