Some of these places don't know what a video board is. We are VERY fortunate!
This discussion isn't about FOOTBALL. The people that run the Fargodome are well aware of the facility's weaknesses when it comes to hosting certain events. They know the things that they can't even bid on and why. When they bid on something and lose, they typically find out what hurt their bid. I think Fargo will build some sort of new events center. The battle is whether Burgum gets his way and it goes downtown or whether it is an addition to the Fargodome.

The only reason it received DT consideration is Bergum wants it there to bolster the highrise he wants to put in.
I never said they had brought up being able to do both ..... But they are trying to make the convention center so as they are more suitable to events that are smaller that's the whole idea ..... However adding the ability to host events at the same time is also a valid point when considering downtown

Well we can't let Doug Burgum get his way. That guy's never had a good idea in his life.

I didn't say that. I generally distrust developers who want Taxpayers to build things that enhance what they want to develop. Especially when there are competing proposals.

For reference, check to see what Ace Brandt promised with the Ice arena and what actually got built. I still can't figure out where those other 4 sheets of ice went. Promises. Promises.

Yeah ace Brandt and Doug burgum the same guy.... without burgum does downtown fargo make the resurgence it has?
Point number 2 to lakes texting me and northern bison writing on the board is neither of you have a nickel in the discussion as neither of you are fargo residents

Ace Brandt and the Scheels Center was an all time and the pathetic part is they still don't have the practice rinks built which was the premise for the park district to pay for it. If I remember correctly Brandt built it, got the Force to come here, and then had the city pay for the building because financing "fell through." Smelled fishy. Meanwhile the area was kick started for development

Burgrum I like. Not because he's an NDSU guy but because he does so much for the area. I love his downtown development but I prefer the addition to the dome. Yes he has an agenda but its not ban evil genius agenda

I agree with you in wanting it downtown, as I think it would continue to add to the good thing Fargo has going on down there. I love a vibrant downtown. Heck, maybe it would even help Moorhead's crap-hole downtown area.

But logistically, I cannot see it going down there, mainly due to lack of space. The "Pride of Dakota" show down at the Civic is a fairly large event that is at max capacity in the Civic, and parking really sucks for that. A bigger convention center down there would almost have to include parking ramps, and I don't know where those would go. The city's preferred floodwall plan with the elimination of the 2nd Street & 3rd Ave N. intersection would only add to the traffic problems.

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are. There are two ways to look at this. What's good for Ndsu and the football program and what's good for the city. I guess I don't really see how permanently losing space on campus to a convention center is a good thing. It permanently ends the discussion of expanding the dome and could end up hurting the program long term. As far as the city is concerned, putting it downtown would be nice but the logistics of having it at the dome makes so much more sense. The obvious answer, to me as a fan and alumni, is to rebuild/expand seating/ add a convention center to the dome so it will work for all parties for another 30 years.

I don't know if you are correct on the Park district paying for it. I thought their non profit status was just used for the taxing purposes (not having to pay taxes or specials) or something along that line. I am pretty sure the park district did not have actual money on the line. I agree it did and doesn't smell right though.

First and foremost, that thing should have been built downtown, bottom line.
