Matt Zimmer's article on possible remodeling of Frost Arena by SDSU

    http://www.argusleader.com/story/mat...bits/25750537/

Athletic director Justin Sell is optimistic that it won't be too far down the road.

The Jacks' plan -- still very, very much in preliminary stages -- is for suites, permanent seating, new concourses, locker rooms, concessions and a practice gym to be added to the south side of the building. He estimated cost at between $30 and $40 million. Capacity would remain at 6,000.

"It's part of our strategic plan and we feel good about where those things are at," Sell said. "We have to identify some donors much like we've had in these other projects so we can take it forward. It'd be great if we could take it forward this fall, because the board of regents is on a fall by fall, so every October you have to be in the system or you delay it by another year. We need a lead donor or two, because we're going to have to fundraise the whole thing."

Looks nicer than the shoe horned, 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag SHAC. So disappointed in the low ceiling, low capacity DII basketball arena at NDSU. Now it's time for the "something better than nothing" posters to spew hate at me. The offices and weight training areas are great, but the rest meh. Now SDSU will be getting upgrades to add suites at Frost. How many suites at SHAC? Oh that's right, had to strip them out of plans since cost went up in the 8 year effort to secure 100% funding. One good thing, sounds like the dumbass idea to keep the old west side chairs was finally over-ruled and the expensive feature of new matching plastic seats OK'ed. Wow, what a bunch of anal turds in ND legislature.

Meh. The ceiling isn't exactly towering and its fully retractable on 3 sides. Very DII.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

please stop. It was clear that NDSU required a new space for basketball. It took forever to get the fundraising done. They did what they could with the resources provided of them. To piss and moan about how it doesn't meet SDBison's standards sounds childish. I am sure that they would have loved to have a bigger, better facility instead of rejuvenating the BSA but it wasn't in the cards.

IF they were to wait on the perfect setup the disparity between have and have nots would be even bigger. USD And SDSU would have shiny new facilities and we'd be stuck with the same old BSA.

Opinions... Yes, you are entitled to one. Problem is that yours is based on an ideal that was not going to happen without a significant increase in donations. Sure, your opinion matters but not very much since it isn't based in reality.

    have a great day.....and gfy.
