The teams we would end up playing if we were FBS aren't much better. I doubt Minnesota would schedule NDSU or SDSU even if they were in a G5 conference because there are many more easy Ws for a warmup game they can schedule.
It's OK to not be OK.

At least you won't see Western Illinois after this year.

True. P5 are generally looking for easy payday wins at home when they schedule G5 schools.
If they want to enhance their resume, they play other P5's.

Some of the P5 conferences are pushing for their members to stop scheduling G5 away games, even on a 2-1 basis.
No P5 wants to risk a G5 loss, anymore than FBS teams want to risk FCS losses.

Not much different than what you see with basketball scheduling now. "Power" teams don't want to play non-power away.

El Cid is a unique place, and they were a regular playoff team 5 or so years ago.
Success is cyclical sometimes, and they seem to be rebounding. It might be a better game than people expect.

They beat Coastal Carolina in 2015. Can't overlook them and assume an easy game. Things can change.

FCS still sucks.....and 90% of those East Coast teams really do. Guess NDSU will keep lowering their standard until the team gets closer to the rest of FCS. Kind of like what happened in D2. But keep patting Stoney Brooks lame ADs ass for getting games like this. Long past time to move to FBS. Then again most of Bisonville, Teammakers and fans in general have lowered their expectations. Bison football in decline.

In a lot of ways, I think the history, success, and expectations of NDSU fans make ML's job one of the toughest in FCS. Imagine walking a mile in his shoes and trying to get schools to return your call to schedule a game. Many schools just don't want to play us.

FBS teams are scared of us. FCS schools don't want the loss before the playoffs. Some teams don't want to travel far, and don't need to on the east coast. There's also no magic wand that is going to get us a MWC invite tomorrow. It takes a cascade of events, and those events move slowly sometimes. When the PAC makes their move, that will cascade downward. But it might take another year or so to happen.

Losing one game in Frisco doesn't spell the end.

That is not what happened in D2. NDSU didn’t lower their standard, the division did until NDSU literally had more money than it could spend. Then they moved up.

No, it’s just being real about who actually controls what.
