Thought this was funny. No idea if unionizing is the right approach but something needs to be done IMO. My cousin is friends with a guy who was a walk-on at TCU when they played in the Rose Bowl. He got $100 cash in the his locker in a blank envelope every week. I wonder how much the stars were making when a walk-on was getting that. UCONN needs better boosters.

They are non-profit. They spend all the money they take in as opposed to businesses that share dividends with owners or stockholders. They take in a LOT of money, but it is spent on all the championships and shared with their member institutions.

To me it seems like people confuse non-profit with charity maybe?

You know who else they're sharing it with? Mark Emmert. The guy who gave himself a 46% pay increase his first year on the job.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

    Default Unionizing Student-Athletes

I am not sure if a posting exists regarding unionizing student athletes. I don't see any good in unionizing. Very few programs are profitable. Many expenses are covered by tuition fees. Do any of you feel that this trend will be bad for student athletes? Many kids get scholarships that may otherwise not and I wonder if unionizing could reduce that. I am surprised that a judge favored in calling student athletes employees of the university and can unionize. I only see the union benefiting and not the students.
