Other than NIU, have any MAC football teams been on National Broadcasts this year or last? I'm thinking not.
Not counting bowls 55 MWC games were on CBS, CBS Sports, ABC, Big 10 Network or ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU.

11 MVFC football games(counting NDSU's playoff games) were on Fox Sports 1, Big 10 Network or ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU

All conferences ideally want 16 team conferences, with two eight team divisions. Big Ten has added two more teams: Maryland and Rutgers. (LOCATION LOL) The Sun Belt has added Idaho, App. State and Georgia Southern. The non BCS conferences will be looking to expand for survival. From the MAC and Sunbelt's perspective, (and even the MWC), North Dakota State is an attractive addition. They would be near the top in attendance for football (MAC teams inflate their attendance figures). Our new basketball arena would be competitive and we would have the best baseball stadium in the conference. (I researched this last night.) NDSU would be a great addition to the Sun Belt conference and a good addition to the MAC conference.

Of course, if we just "wait" and see our opportunity might pass up by when the conferences fill up with 16 teams. Then NDSU is stuck where it is at, unless they want to be an independent like BYU.
You are delusional. NDSU brings nothing to the table as far as money or viewership to any FBS conference. Keep trying....

What I said was that nobody outside of the fans of those schools watches, I never said anything about how many people watch. Do you really think that if we were FBS next year and we were playing ISU blue and the game was on Fox that we are going to get the same number of viewers that Ohio St and Michigan will have. Or do you think that the fans of other teams who are playing are going to say fuck watching my team, NDSU is on I'm gonna watch that instead.
    From the movie THE PROGRAM

Regent Chairman: This is not a football vocational school. It's an institute for higher learning.
Coach Winters: Yeah, but when was the last time 80,000 people showed up to watch a kid do a damn chemistry experiment? Why don't you stick the bow-tie up your ass?

By the way, NDSU could stay in the Summit and join a conference for football only, i.e., like Idaho and New Mexico State did when it joined the Sun Belt.

This is the most logical thing you've said about this whole thing and I certainly would be ok with it. However, I don't see NDSU doing anything like it. Plus there's still an increased athletics budget and scholarships and no playoffs to make at the end of the day.

I am so sick of the Bison already. Win this, win that, blah, blah, blah. I'd really, really like to know how they do it. I swear they have to be the luckiest sob's on the planet. Just sick of this bs, just fed up.

It only bothers them in the fact that there so much MIS-information and idiocy in that regards. They know that a small amount of fans are just idiotic and stupid. They look out for the majority. There is nothing D2 in there vision and how they conduct their business. Only a very small minority would accuse them of such.

Please provide proof of this statement. Have you talked to these conferences in this regard? No? Then what do you base this statement on?The FBS football fairy?

In this discussion, why is it generally assumed that the other sports like basketball have to also move? Why is it impossible to imagine the Summit League teams remaining in that conference with the coaches salaries not changing. IF the football program moves up, wouldn't affiliate membership into an existing FBS League (MAC, MWC, Sunbelt, etc...) seem more economically feasible?

Just look 70 miles north. Hakstol gets paid according to the peers in his sport, whereas all the other coaches up there are paid according to Big Sky levels.

Geography does not seem to be as big a hurdle for football as it is in other sports. As it is now, the only conference road games using a bus for football are down in South Dakota. Flying to Laramie, Muncie, or Statesboro would be similar to flying to Terre Haute or Youngstown.

With the SHAC project getting the go-ahead and Oral Roberts coming back, the Summit League seems like a good fit for the other sports to remain in. Other than basketball, does any significant percentage of Bison fans care who the volleyball, soccer, golf, track, etc... teams compete against? The Summit provides a good, stable home for the teams currently in it.

This discussion should only pertain to the football program at this time. No need to attach the others unless it is absolutely necessary to move all of the teams to the FBS conference. If that is the case, then this move up is NOT happening for 15+ years minimum.
