I think people need to realize there is no second level of FBS in the region, a number of these kids we get would be FBS recruits in other areas. Most just aren't seen to be at the Big 10 or Big 12 level. There is no regional MAC or CUSA or MWC school to pick them up. While our isolation is an issue in regards to conference realignment, it is an advantage in other areas and this is one of them.

Even when some of those far away second level FBS schools come in with offers, a lot of the recruits would rather play closer to home anyway. They don't exactly view the MAC or whatever conference as being much of a step up.

While there are no "regional MAC" schools, there are plenty of them that recruit in MN that NDSU has to compete with. Check the offer sheets, schools like NIU, Ohio, Akron and the directionals have all offered scholarships to MN and WI players, so NDSU competes with these schools on a weekly basis in their primary recruiting footprint.

If the Dolphins don't address their infamous O-line in the first round, they may be able to find a permanent solution late in the draft if Turner is still on the board. He's got the size and athleticism to excel in the NFL, and has the versatility to play tackle or guard. He's an energetic player with Pro Bowl potential.
