I honestly don't see the teams playing against each other on an annual basis unless they are in the same conference, so the trophy is history and should be treated as such.
I can go along with that.

No, not really. What I was referencing was the idea of revisionist history as noted by Tatanka, as I recall. We know damn well there's a lot of revisionist history as pertains to the hostile and abusive reasoning improvised as they were going along by the NCAA, the gyrations employed during the possible inclusion of UND in the Summit/MVFC (Summit possibly an admission vote for UND, but that didn't help UND's football program any. Furthemore, it's unlikely MVFC would have opted to let UND for any variety of reasons--travel from the eastern MVFC schools for one reason; thus UND opted for the only reasonable choice it had) and on and on. Although in hindsight it can be argued the Big Sky (regarding football) might not have been the best option to this point considering our record there. No, I was merely making the point that Harry Truman was no advocate of revisionary history, nothing more, nothing less. The only thing I might concede regarding a Hiroshima/Nagasaki parallel, if you will, with the D-I moveup might be that some might consider our D-! move to have "blown up" in our face. I don't agree, but some might think thusly.

As far as the pronounciation bit is concerned, I can't speak for an entire body, but personally have been known to have used both acceptable versions. Would be most interested in knowing what you read into each acceptable version, if anything.

    I'll hang up and listen.
Offhand, I'd venture to say that there was more than one reason the move was not made. And I'm certain you can provide alternative reasoning that is perfectly valid. There was--and is--quite a bit of revisionist history going on concerning all this. You may recall former president Harry S Truman was not much of a believer in revisionist history as well. As an aside to this, I do believe Harry did the right thing regarding the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I believe it saved a lot of innocent lives on both sides, including perhaps my father's. Believe me, I am not being sarcastic when I say I think NDSU (and SDSU) did the right thing in moving up when they did. As has been said time and again, one can't have everything in life when he or she wants it. That perhaps was our mistake, again in hindsight. Nevertheless. that being said, I believe the timing for us just wasn't right. After all, it has also been said many times by many observers that timing IS everything in life, and I couldn't agree more. Some day someone should write a book on what happened in this whole saga. However, I expect there would be a number of side versions and additional stories that may or may not be true. Tatanka, I respect your opinions and believe you deserve an answer. That's my best shot. Wish perhaps things could have turned out differently, but again, that's revisionist history.
Thanks for the thoughtful answer. <--Seriously.

I thought you were going for the Chewbacca defense there for a couple of minutes, but I believe I understand what you're saying.

I actually accept the rationale behind delaying a move being due to Title IX and Womens' Hockey among other factors. However, that was most certainly not what the party line was when NDSU announced its move. Not by a far sight. If UN_ would have simply come out publicly and provided honest rationale such as this for not moving up (and perhaps not taken some of the actions they took, publicly and otherwise), I think a lot of bridges would still be in place between the two athletic departments, and it wouldn't have taken so long to resume playing in most sports, and the football game that UN_ so desperately covets would be an annual event.

We all know how it played out. Regrettable to say the least.

Basically, I believe what you say is true. Errors and omissions on both sides. Pride at times going before the fall. In short, I believe both universities said and did what they believed best for them at the time. I think loyalty played a role in all this as well. Hope things can be worked out eventually.

Actually, if one were to remove TNWTFN and all of his actions/comments, I don't know if there would a burnt piece of connecting structure.

Did Rich Glas do much? I don't remember him doing anything. Porstachio was more like the crazy drunk uncle in the background. I didn't think anybody paid him any attention.

Much, no. Some, yes, but he was following the leader. And Pornstachio was just being Pornstachio.

I think you have most of the responsibility assigned properly. There were others.

Oh I do agree with you...and it all fell under Kup's leadership. But one must remember nobody did anything without the Emperor's (Chapman) approval.
