I am a little surprised, but it bodes well for Stick that the Chargers are seeing something in him that makes him worth keeping.

Saw it on cbssports.com, so this is official now. I suspect the Chargers were leaning heavily in this direction (or had already decided) when they brought in Tyrone and then drafted Easton. So if this is the case, then what was the preseason all about for Cardale? Make him look good, or as good as reasonably possible so another team might pick him up. Give him the better O-line prospects while he is out there, and a good L tackle to protect him. Give him easier plays, not plays to see how good he might be.

It seems the Chargers put Easton in situations to test him - see what he can do, to find his limits - completely different motive than with Cardale.
