Easton is the real deal IMO, this draft scenario may happen again.

In the playoffs Stick was making some throws that were attention grabbers. Hope he keeps continuing to improve at the rate he did over the 8 games he played this years.

The parameter was freshman qb...not true or redshirt. Stick got us there while up a division. Some would say there's a difference.

Does anyone know which game was Bentrim's first start? All I can find is that he started "early in is freshman season" on gobison.com NDSU lost the 4th game of the 1983 season and went on to win the national championship with a freshman QB.

I remember smiling and saying "Can you believe the whole backfield is
freshmen". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe James Molstre and Chad Starks started most of the games as well.
And then for some high-quality NFL level depth, Doug Lloyd arrived on
campus a couple years later.....wow.....what a run

I admit that I was surprised when Oakland grabbed him... so I'm one of those who under-appreciated his ability.

Not sure why that was. Possibly it was because he came in after Molstre and Stark started playing, and then Satter and Simdorn took the spotlight. He still got most of the RB carries though. He was total package of speed and strength. Holy carp we we were spoiled back the! Not as spoiled as we are now though.

I'm just as excited as the next guy about Carson and his future in the NFL, but it's the Easton Stick show at QB now and I'm flat fired up to see how he handles being #1. Gotta love the fact he's got 8 games under his belt and he can learn from those games and play faster than last year. Should be another exciting season with this tremendous young man under center.
