The MVFC just announced their individual awards and Easton Stick finished 2nd in Freshman of the Year voting and 3rd in Newcomer of the Year voting: http://www.valley-football.org/news/...es-top-honors/

Pretty impressive for a guy who only really played in 5 games.

Really nice to see the acknowledgement of his talents and abilities. But Easton will be the first to say it is about the team and only the team. This is why NDSU is special place. All members of the team think this way. Go Bison

My boss hates it when I shorten his name to Dick, mainly because his name is Steven.

Default Easton Stick: Best Freshman QB at NDSU ever?

8-0 as a starter. Passing Efficiency over 150.

Hard to top what Easton did this year. Stepped up, won games, stepped aside graciously for the title game--I don't think you could expect more. Actually, expecting all of that out of a freshman is a heckuva lot. Easton is going to be the Man for the next 3 years, and I couldn't be more excited to see our string of championships--and great quarterbacks continue.

I hesitate to vote for or against him...but I will say he joins an elite group.

for those of us who might be a little bit younger, who else would you consider as candidates for best freshman QB ever?
Now this is the law of the prairie
As old and as true as the sky
And the Bison that keep it will prosper
And the Bison that break it will die
As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk
This law is the final word:
For the strength of the Herd is the Bison
And the strength of the Bison is the Herd.

Does anyone know which game was Bentrim's first start? All I can find is that he started "early in is freshman season" on gobison.com NDSU lost the 4th game of the 1983 season and went on to win the national championship with a freshman QB.
It's OK to not be OK.

Jeff Bentrim = true freshman and he led NDSU to its first D2 championship. Steve Walker was awesome too. Chris Simdorn didn't get to play enough as a freshman or he'd be up there.

Steve Walker only got to start 3 games, but his stat line was incredible: Passing efficiency 232, completed 78% of his passes, and had 10 TDs with no INTs. Legendary.
