I do agree that there's plenty of room for the committee to screw this up and I have zero confidence that they won't.

What did D2 use? I only remember the poll era which was a joke. They just slotted the top vote getters in the 4 regional polls into 1-4, then 5-8, etc. plus or minus a slot here or there.
I thought the GPI was an aggregate of rating systems and poll results.

Bascially, D2 gave you points based on your wins-losses weighted by the opponents's record. They also gave you more points for playing a team in your region.

There is just no way that a committee of coaches and athletic directors is ever going to come up with something decent. If they make then attempt and want it to be transparent, then I hope they publish their methodology so it can be run on prior seasons. "Oh look, Harvard and Lehigh are the #1 and #2 seeds!"

Great way to test it. +++ last year they called it as perfectly as I've seen it

I agree. I'm not confident they're going to get to a better answer. On it's face an SRS looks good but there's plenty of room for them to manipulate the weights that would effectively neuter the system. (example: you could treat every win, no matter the opponent or score as a 7 point margin, plug it into your SRS calculator and you'd get the same junk answer D2 used). Whatever they do they absolutely need to publish the methodology.
