What exactly is a Wildcat? Is it a bobcat, mt. lion, Africa lion, Tiger?

Is it supposed to be indigenous to Kansas, or just made up out of thin air?

western kansas is mostly agriculture with a sprinkling of oil wells and a few badlands.

i didn't choose the nickname. there are other cats around. so, i suppose they changed from aggies to wildcats respecting that fact.
