Get a load of THIS Summit League rumor

Apparently there are one or more yahoos running around saying they've heard that Oral Roberts is interested in returning to the Summit League.

Ordinarily I would dismiss this as utter lunatic talk, but then I consider that we live in a world where UMKC thought it was a good idea to jump to the Great West-ern Athletic Conference, so I suppose anything is possible.

Should I ramp up my skepticism to eleven, or have any of y'all folk heard anything more than Internet board/chat blather?

Not sure why they would do this. I thought they liked playing in an easier league and avoiding trips to the great white north.

Obviously them coming back would be great for the league but I just don't see it.

I dunno.. whats the motivation? Doesn't make sense but obviously it would be good for the league. I haven't paid attention but how are they doing? How is attendance? Is the southland stable?

i wish that it would but in reality.... it would not be a 2 bid league. Before the committee starts handing out at-large bids to the Summit, the league must demonstrate that it can win games against big name teams. The MVC was a 2 bid league this year but only because CU and WSU were both top 50 teams (and had wins against other top 50 teams).

Every team in the league plays UMKC 2 times. Replace them with ORU and Denver. I don't think climbing to the status of a 2 bid league is that crazy.

I think people underestimate just how much of an anchor UMKC is for the league. USD and Omaha at least try to be successful, and IUPUI has proven that they can be.

the summit could *contend* for two bids *next year*. the league looks stronger than ever, and both denver and NDSU could have a shot at an at large if things fall into place .
