UMKC to the WAC????

That would bring us down to 9 teams, 8 if oakland leaves. I said originally we should have tried to get Chicago state but apparently they felt really confident in our conference. Now Chicago State is in the WAC too? Would have been a good travel partner for WIU. Looks like we passed. Beggers can't be choosers. What other options are there?

There are better options in DII than Chicago State.

Take this for what its worth but as I look around different message boards and comment sections I am seeing a lot of posts about the demise of the Summit. I know there has been talk of Oakland leaving but are there rumors of others as well? Western Illinois?

I heard this rumor too, and upon investigation it has merit... A move to the WAC would actually be very smart since the Summit will be pillaged soon (Oakland, Western Illinois, etc.). It would be smart for us to get out now!

All the rumors circle around Oakland, IPFW, IUPUI and to a lessor extent NDSU/SDSU(if Creighton leaves the MVC).

This is UMKC we're talking about. They just lost--again--to Houston Baptist.

Trading UMKC for Denver is a major upgrade. I wont lose any sleep about UMKC leaving. Now if we lose another school then its scary. Oakland has been rumored for years now with Horizon, I am not worried about that , its simply that Oakland wants the Horizon but not the horizon wanting Oakland.

At the end of the day we have a very smart Athletic Director and I trust him and his administration. If the summit is indeed collapsing they will have an answer for NDSU athletics.
