    2. The site is getting deluged in bots trying to register so it is really hard to weed out who is not one. Sorry for the delays on user approvals.

    3. When cleaning up some data in the fan guide part, I was puzzled because the U of Charleston showed as playing Transylvania, KY twice on the same day in 1911. Double-headers did happen, but they were rare. Anyway, when trying to unravel this problem I found a bit trivia here: Transylvania Pioneers football - Wikipedia (check out the score of the first recorded college football game played in the state of KY back in 1880.)
Ok now I need to know how quarters of points were awarded…

The Colonels were not very good at praying apparently. Preying either for that matter. BEING prey OTOH.

Anyway, I wonder what the scoring system was such that there were fractional points awarded. Did you investigate that in any detail?

I haven't seen any explanation for the fractional scoring, but then I had hours worth of other data problems to resolve.

Taken from ChatGPT so grain of salt ...

Yes, there was a time in American football history when fractional points were awarded, though it's very rare and dates back to the early days of the sport.

    Here's a quick breakdown:
In the 1890s, the scoring system in American football was still evolving. During this time, various leagues and teams used their own rules before a standardized system was adopted.

One documented instance occurred in 1890: a ½-point was awarded in a game between Yale and Princeton. The half-point came from a safety, which was at the time worth 1½ points under some rulesets.

This happened because there was not yet full agreement across all teams or leagues on how many points each play was worth. Over time, the sport moved toward whole-number scoring for simplicity and consistency.

And here I thought it was bonus points for sideline warnings.
North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

Wouldn’t it have to be demerits or deduction of points due to sideline warnings?

You'd think, but it seemed like we were trying to get them every game last year to get the bonus points. Refs just didn't know the obscure bonus point rule.
