    Default My Dilemma

I'm with Dish Network for a couple more days and am changing to Directv on Tuesday (mostly for Fox College Sports and ESPNU HD). Unfortunately my VIP 722 DVR has the Bison/Minnesota game, Bison playoff games from last year, and the NC game. I really really do not want to lose these. So I'm hoping for alternatives. Are there sources out there where I can get the full games? Anyone with the VIP 722 can I transfer the files to an external HD? I really wanted ESPNU in HD for the playoffs and future Bison games on TV with Fox College sports. I figured that was worth ditching Dish for Directv. And I'll get to watch the Vikings choke again year after year.

BriDog or CaBisonFan are experts, pm one of them imo.

I have used this to transfer files to my computer. http://www.amazon.com/Honestech-VHS-.../dp/B0040FT30O im sure there is something out there that is better but this is extremely easy to use and relatively cheap for something like this.

I think you can attach an external HD to the receiver, there is a one time fee that unlocks the receiver to allow you to hook up the HD, once it on the HD I have no idea what you can do with it, if it's readable with another program like windows media player or some other software other then another dish receiver.

There's a type of encryption on most DVRs that makes a transfer of data to another hard drive very difficult...but the product that TILIS listed has been known to be successful. I bought a cheap DVD recorder and plugged it directly into the DVR...and recorded each game directly. The quality is average...but better than nothing. Wish I had a better answer. It sucks to lose those games.

If you are computer savvy....I used something like this to capture the HD games off my DVR and then burn them to disc.

I don't care how the vote ended up. They still suck and always will.

Lifesaver! I went ahead and got this and saved all my Bison games. I'm very surprised how good the quality was considering I used S-video cables (no HDMI for this). So I was able to salvage the entire 2011 playoffs (except JMU) and the Gopher game. I also transferred my '98, '00 Vikings NFL films highlight videos, and miscellaneous Twins stuff. I'm willing to share all these goodies, just message me if you're interested.
