I don't think it will go anywhere near that long. If they don't round out an acceptable 2013 home schedule in the next couple months, it would be easy as pie to simply tell the Big Sky to write them into the schedule and go the FCS route. After all, the Big Sky invite was for all sports. The Big Sky probably already has the future schedules in draft form.

They have no future as an FBS independent. None.

    Everyone except Idaho sees that.

I love the tweet from Idaho AD Rob Spear (@Rob_Spear) yesterday:
"SBOE will vote tomorrow on our request to only EXPLORE independent football and Big Sky membership...nothing official."

The all-caps emphasis of the word 'explore' is his. He must be getting dizzy from all the spin control he has to be doing. His fan base must be in a total uproar.

I almost (almost, I can never completely) feel sorry for Denver. They will always be a conference addition afterthought because of their no-football status.

The loss of the WAC (the monitor is flat-line but the doctor hasn't called ToD yet) is a significant blow to schools west of the Mississippi and north of Texas with FBS aspirations.

Fullerton has said before that he wants to avoid going much larger because if you get 16 teams you wake up one morning and have two 8-team conferences.

I still believe a 16/14* school conference was his goal before USD switched sides. I don't know if his current feeling are because he changed his mind or it's just his current spin.

*original 9 + SUU/UND/USD and UCD/CP; NDSU/SDSU added later after Summit lost a couple more

I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't his original plan, but then the WAC imploded and he was given a shot at Idaho.

Denver actually has a pretty good lacrosse program too. Not sure what good that does them being so far from the east coast, but it's something.

I definitely believe they have no future as an FBS indy. I believe they're performing football seppuku.
