Default Facilities Improvements......dream a little dream.

    Okay,

So we know what is presently underway and planned for facilities improvements at our grand alma mater, but what would your dream improvements be to ANY of our athletic facilities if you had your druthers.

    Field Turf at Newmann?
Skyway between the proposed SHAC and the Dome?
Sioux SUCK! It just has a nice ring to it.

I wouldn't even call this a dream because its possible.

    - indoor football practice facility
    - Bison statues along 19th Ave, University, Albright, in front of the SHAC, dome, and at the tailgating entrance
    - permanent bathrooms / warming house shelter in the tailgating lot
    - A stage for bands and karaoke (could be used by dome for events )
    - tailgating store in the dome parking lot that serves food and beverages and sells tailgating items with outdoor picnic tables, a fire pit, etc
    - tailgating town with football themed games like the QB challenge and video game contests like Madden
    - Bison signage on the west side of the dome including a video board and fix up the ghetto looking overhang. Make it Bison themed and colored. And put some giant Bison flags on the over hang! Or how about replica banners that were at Dacotah Field (and hang at scheels) No need for paint since Sign A Rama can wrap it.
    - Turn Dacotah Field bleachers into some sort of a museum

EDIT : Forgot the miniature golf course!

Women's SB is the next upgrade. I'm torn on the indoor FB practice facility. We have grass fields - field turf - and the FD. Indoor FB facility would only really be used for spring practice if the weather was bad. I like the idea of all our FB facilities located within walking distance of each other. There's something to be said for practicing outside. We could always cover old Dacotah field if needed.

I actually kind of agree (im torn too) but I think its important to at least get a dome that covers Dacotah Field for late season playoff games on the road, when the dome is unavailable, or if weather sucks . Losing practice time is HUGE and the NCAA limits practices . And from what Ive read a dome for Dacotah would only cost a million ... much cheaper than a 20 million dollar indoor facility.

Someday if we build other necessities maybe we can look at an indoor facility. Its certainly another tool to wow recruits. Im jealous of the Youngstown facility. UND has talked about it. But i think in a strange way, having camp in 90 degree heat with full humidity builds character. Location? We could do it where the grass fields are and still keep nearly 2 grass fields

Could they use it for camps?

The football team practiced in some awful weather before the 2010 playoff game vs MSU; it didn't look like they were under-practiced.
I am sure they could always practice here:

That was good for an outdoor game! How about if the dome decides to move forward with an addition some day? Could be a way to incorporate a practice facility into the addition. Of course we wouldn't need a new arena with the SHAC. A dome addition would be perfect for smaller concerts, state basketball tournaments, and for larger basketball game, or hockey . Heck we could even bid on the Summit League tournament. (This thread is called dreams, right? )

The track field is big enough but who wants to practice on concrete! Unless they could put a turf system in? Although it looks like the middle is grass

My ultimate dream would be a 35,000-seat outdoor stadium with overhangs/coverings over the seating, much like Century Link Field in Seattle or most of the European soccer stadiums.

NOOOoooooo. I've spent way too many days as a Bison track athlete and Bison track coach with nowhere to practice because of something going on at the BSA. Let the track teams have their facility. If the track teams got the prime practice times I could maybe support it.

Would the Redhawks want Field Turf? They are the primary tenant when looking at the number of games played each year.

Newman Field has a pretty nice natural field and the Redhawks do a great job maintaining it.
