Default Gov. Darlymple on higher ed funding

    http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/368622/

He said higher education should pursue a clear cost-per-student formula that could be applied across the state’s institutions.
If this happens, I'd expect a radically new approach to counting students.

I assume each ndsu student would count as 1/5 of a human. Und, somewhere around 6/5?

He is right on the money in this quote:

What we have now is this cloudy fog based on long-ago history.

This is what the legislature wants as well.

    Will be interesting.

$5 says the new chancellor doesn't make it beyond June 30, 2013.
Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
Scrooge-"Are there no prisons?". "Plenty of prisons..."
Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Don't bet a UND student...if you win, you will get $5. If he wins, he will get $14.57

I think the Governor is a good man and he sure has my support in taking a good look at this.

Well, I hope the legislature sticks to its guns and demands to see FTE and on-premise vs on-line numbers. I would expect the university of phoenix grand forks to fight this as neither statistic favors them.

    Quick version of today's testimony:

Shirvani: "This is making a mountain out of a molehill."
Bresciani: "Fund us like you are supposed to and this won't happen."
Kelley: "Please sir, may I have another."

His opponent is an NDSU guy and was Homecoming King in 1992 (I was on court that year too)! Great guy even for a Democrat.
