If you do peer funding comparisons nationally, UND is woefully underfunded for a doctoral, research university with a medical school and law school.

I'm not sure where NDSU stands amongst its land grant peers when it comes to funding comparions, but I suspect the same is true.

I've said it before; I'll say it again: The State of ND has too many schools. Shut down Bottineau, Mayville, and Valley City. Make LRCC a Distance Ed outreach center from UND.

UND is funded at over 60% of its peer groups. NDSU was funded at 39 or 40% of its peers - the 8.8% tuition increase was put in to get them to around 45% (still the worst in the system.)

Can't find the exact numbers for some reason.

So 46% was the target but they took away $1 million+? Wonder what that left NDSU at (and where would NDSU be without the 8.8% tuition increase?)

I think it's pretty clear where the best ROI is, if legislators and the state board are interested in such things.

Do you honestly believe that the legislators and state board either understand what ROI represents in this context or that this group as a whole even gives a shit about the need for a 'fair' funding method?

Not even for a split second, on either account.

Total revenue from tuition for fiscal 2010 was ~$86.5 million, so if I'm thinking about this correct, the tuition increase (assuming it was applied across the board) resulted in roughly $7 million in additional revenue?
