You have no idea who you insulted, sport.
Butthurt much?
edit: And while I'm working on this, pantherboy somewhat apologizes for the initial rude comments. I'm leaving mine in. I'll be nice in subsequent posts, but I think I deserve one post of pushback.
No, he's partially right. He's also an asshat and has questionable competency in the English language, but that's another matter. I took some wrong turns in the UNI website and that led me to create a not quite apples to apples comparison. The uncertainty was the reason I deleted my first post. To put it simply, the UNI website sucks. On my second pass through the info, I felt the fact that NDSU offers Andre's undergrad major as a certificate, masters and doctorate was worth posting.
So can we do a real apples to apples comparison? Maybe. The two websites are set up just differently enough to add uncertainty. Here's my best shot:
NDSU
119 total graduate programs
10 certification programs
1 specialist program
64 masters programs
44 doctoral programs
UNI
43 total graduate programs
1 specialist program
37 masters programs
5 doctoral programs
Dipshit is still going to say I'm wrong, but I think I'm a lot closer. For example: UNI lists two different masters in music; an MM and an MA. I'm only counting that as a single program. The reason: NDSU also offers more than one type of masters in music but only counts it as a single program. Apples to apples. Same thing with UNI's masters in curriculum and instruction. UNI has six different versions. If I were to include all of them, I would also have to include the seven civil engineering masters or the seven education masters(one of which happens to be curriculum and instruction). If anything, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to UNI. Finally, the UNI board of regents has really done a number on their graduate school. Perhaps that is why our resident tool is so worked up. Their BOR has recently shut down 12 of their grad programs. Current students will be allowed to finish their degrees, but no new students will be accepted into the programs.
One last thing. Why did I insult his grasp of the English language? Well, he wrote that I should do more research before posting false statements about someone. Since I talked about both UNI and Andre, that must be referring to Andre; after all, UNI isn't a person, right? But what false statements did I post about Andre? That UNI lists his major as gerontology? Well, that's true. Go to his bio page on UNI's website; it's right there in black and white. That Andre would have the option to finish his degree online if he so chose? How is that a false statement? Since that's all I wrote directly about Andre, I guess he must have been talking about my statements about UNI. But UNI is a thing; an inanimate object. You don't refer to it as a 'someone'. Definitely not when the original poster(me) also talked about a person in the same post.
If you want to go to the sources, here are the websites:
http://www.ndsu.edu/gradschool/programs/
http://www.grad.uni.edu/degrees-programs/programs
And here are the lists I used to tally the programs. I'm standing by my statement that there is a large difference between our two schools academically. You can see a wide variety of programs in NDSU's list, while most of UNI's are related to teaching. Everyone on this board realizes I don't have a problem with that, but it's still the truth.
