I think the key word is Wish. I see him going else where since he will have his pick of where he wants to go.
Keep your expectations low enough and you will always be happy with the results
Leingang broke the Bismarck community Bowl record yesterday in the Denton Relays running 4:12 and change in the 1600 meters! Wouldnt be suprised to see him go around 4:07 this year.

the most amazing thing... he's only a junior!
A little off topic but what is the point of 1600m and 3200m in high school when college and international competition is 1500m, 3000m or 5000m?
Also, is the "two mile" really exactly 2 miles or 3218.688 Meters? If it is why a two mile rather than 5000m or 3000m? Kind of confusing.

I was confused when ND High School switched to metric! We ran the 100 yard dash, the 220, the 440 also known as the quarter, the 880 or the half, and so on...Im sure I was not alone!...Anyway the two mile relay is no more. The official term is 4x800 meter relay, or the 3200 meter relay? Depends on who you ask!
For what it is worth ... it is not correct to equate the 2-mile with the 3200 meters (or mile with the 1600meters). The metric distances (400 meters versus 440 yards, 800 meters, versus 880 yards) are all a bit shorter than the english track distances, so the metric times will be slightly faster.
Here are the approximate conversion rates:
880 yards (1/2 mile) ... subtract 0.7 seconds to get an equivalent 800 meter time (for the shorter metric distance.)
Mile ... subtract 1.6 seconds to get an equivalent 1600 meter time.
2-mile ... subtract 3.5 seconds to get an equivalent 3200 meter time.
If you take Brian MacLarens 1966 time of 1:50.10 in the 880 yards (at NDSU) and convert it, this is about a 1:49.4 800 meters, which would be #4 on NDSU's all time list.
I think the 1500 meters that is standard today is a product of France and Germany (Europe in general) converting to the metric system. I believe they used 500 meter tracks for awhile.
