The Summit goes on with or without Oakland. It is better off with it, no doubt, but we should be happy Greg "I love me my sweaters" Kampe & Co.
I should have said it is no longer a viable conference for NDSU, the Summit can exist forever if it adds schools desperate enough to join.

Not exactly...The WAC adds schools like Denver, Seattle, Texas State and UTSA while the Summit would be adding DII schools, Chicago State, UTPA or UVU.

The Summit even without Oakland is what NDSU makes of it.

Seriously though we may as well just call up Fulerton because I doubt the MVC will answer our calls and with the WAC we would just trade one unstable situation for another. Hopefully though Oakland stays or is never offered, I like the status quo.

Desperation is desperation. Adding two schools that are just starting FBS is tantamount to adding D2 schools to an FCS conference.

Seattle is transitioning up from D-2 and was in the NAIA as recently as 2001, and Denver? Well, Denver has been D-1 since 1998, or about the same timeframe as IUPUI, UMKC, Oakland, and IPFW.

And I notice you left out UT-Arlington. There's a program with a long standing history in D-1. Like 40 years. Of mediocrity.

So, yes, desperation is as desperation does.

Well they've only lost one school in the past 16 years and that was because Northridge dropped football.

Which they've replaced with a seven former D2s which stretch from SLO to Olive Garden, ND.

They've lost three schools in the past 16 years (Boise State, Idaho, and Northridge).

The problem hasn't been losing schools, it's been adding them. They have added a bunch of crappy schools... UNC, SUU, UND
