Default How does the class break down?

My rough draft: 10 offensive players, 9 defensive players (I am putting Stumpf on defense, but he is listed as an athlete). This is using the 19 verbals that we have listed.

Arizona, Kansas and Nebraska: 3 kids each. Minnesota and North Dakota 4 kids each. Illinois and South Dakota: 1 each.

    QB: McGinnis
    RB: Dinwiddie
    WR: Warren, Gray, Woods
    OL: Plankers, Hahn, Lechler, Johnson
TE: Arp (my guess, he clearly could have another position down the road.

    DT: Pierce, Farnlof
    DE: Amaechi?
    LB: Amaechi (OLB?), Riopelle, Davis
Corner: Brantley, Smith? (Might be a safety)
Safety: Leikus (Might be a corner)
    Athlete: Stumpf

Very balanced and I think it attacks our need for depth at WR and O Line very nicely. Amazing skill position talent. Some tough kids on defense. The middle of that defense with Pierce, Farnlof and Davis is just flat big and tough. The outside has speed and skill. Amaechi might be my favorite. He just feels like Littlejohn alraedy. Going to be a beast on the outside.

    Any comments?
Everyone just relax, all right? Believe me, if there's one thing Ron Burgundy knows, it's women.

Some of these kids may contribute sooner than expected, with possibly a few redshirts pulled.

    I bet Arp plays OL.

Is it possible Brantley could be looked at as a RB? Did he play RB in HS?

If Amaechi and Davis have the speed claimed, they are gonna be tremendous LB's.

Maybe Pierce at DE? I guess he's already pretty heavy out of highschool though

With next years class being so small and with the large class of JR's next year, this class was going to have to be a good one to fill in some of the gaps when next years JR's are gone. This class can redshirt a year to put on weight and get stronger, faster and more explosive and learn the mental aspect of the college game and then put it to use as redshirt freshman while learning from our amazing class of next years juniors when they are seniors. This was very important in taking us from a great team back to being a great "PROGRAM". Hopefully most are here and contributing in 3 years as we can't miss on kids this year with the small class next year. On paper it looks like the coaches did very very well!!!!!!!

I'm not very good at forecasting how recruiting classes are going to turn out... there are just too many variables. Plus, I tend to look at classes two at a time.

Here's that list from Burgundy showing recruits from last year too:

    QB: McGinnis, Wentz, Stanford
    RB: Dinwiddie, Jones
    FB: Bonnet, Grimm
    WR: Warren, Gray, Woods, Okland,
OL: Plankers, Hahn, Lechler, Johnson, Colville
    TE: Arp, Albers, Lee
    DT: Pierce, Farnlof, Horvath, Lisenby
    DE: Amaechi?, Norman
LB: Amaechi (OLB?), Riopelle, Davis, DeShawn Dinwiddie, Scoliere
CB: Brantley, A. Smith? (Might be a safety), CJ Smith, Champion
S: Leikus (Might be a corner), Veldman
    Athlete: Stumpf, Sonnenfeld,
    P/K: LeCompte

Surprisingly, even though it looks to me that we've got enough guys for a backup at every position, it looks the Bison are short at OL, TE, and DE (although we've got guys at LB or Athlete who might work out there - and Justin Arp.)

I'm not including walkons. If Haeg and Lesar can work into the two-deep at OL, that'll certainly help.

I think the two year combo platter is very good, with only one concern on my part, and that's DE. Only two recruits, and Norman was not very heralded, which doesn't mean anything, but when I look at the current DEs from the past year and the depth, I am not sure we have had enough recruits there. I am not as concerned about OL with the scholarship players and the walk ons. Number wise I think it is pretty solid. Before 2010 the Bison were only averging one per year, they now have three per year.
